Facilities

State-of-the-art equipment and infrastructure
ATIT today represents one of the largest concentrations of state-of-the-art equipment and infrastructure for the development of heat pump technologies in Europe. The teams make use of state-of-the-art laboratories and facilities that allow them to carry out their research in the best possible way: the laboratory is made up of several areas including office space, a prototyping workshop, a measurement laboratory and a life test area giving a total useable surface area of more than 2,500 sq. m. During 2020, the space at ATIT’s disposal will be further expanded to over 4,000 sq. m.
Within ATIT an infrastructure has been created to support research that addresses all the phases typically involved in the development of advanced technologies:
  • skills and tools for the concept design phase
  • advanced 3D CAD design facilities
  • measuring laboratory (measurement of thermal, acoustic and mechanical dimensions)
  • simulation tools for mechanical and thermal systems
  • prototyping workshop for producing models
  • performance test systems capable of recreating the most demanding of operating conditions
  • systems for testing the reliability of individual components, capable of stressing the designed items over a period of time
  • systems for testing the reliability of complete units, that simulate an accelerated life test
